Camphor is an aromatic herb that has been used for centuries to relieve muscle and joint pain and strains and backache too. It is also used in a vaporizer and inhaled. Traditionally in Ayurveda, it has been used to control pain, ease respiratory complaints, sinusitis and insomnia and to treat certain skin complaints. We recognize it today as a widely used product for insect bites, stings and minor burns and as a chest rub. It is believed that its cooling properties provide the sensation of relief. Stimulating, cooling and disinfecting, Camphor is also used in many skin preparations to help ease itching, irritation, inflammation and acne.
